1. Membership Card
The member named on this card is covered under the BBKA public and product liability insurance scheme. Please present this card when claiming membership benefits and privileges and quote your membership number in any communication. Advise your local secretary of any change to your contact details. On the back of the card is a list of providers currently offer privileges to members. Cards are only valid for paid-up members and not issued for other classes of local membership e.g. associate, family, social etc.
2. Information and advice to members on all beekeeping matters
This is available directly from headquarters for matters dealing with administration and for Individual Membership. Information leaflets on many aspects of keeping bees are freely available. For advice on beekeeping skills, particularly swarms, contact the nearest Member Association's Secretary. Our website now offers a 24hour Discussion Forum (message board) which may provide the quickest response - Register first.
3. Public and Products Liability Insurance for Members
Covers individual beekeepers who are direct or indirect members of the BBKA.

4. The BBKA News
The BBKA NEWS is published six times a
year and contains up to date information and articles relating to beekeeping
from the BBKA. In addition it contains advertisements by services and manufacturers
of beekeeping equipment. Information on advertising rates and any articles

5. Beekeeping Examinations to the highest level
The following
Examinations are offered to members:
Junior
Basic
Intermediate, in Modular form
Practical
Senior, in Modular form
Microscopy
Associate BBKA Honey Judge
BBKA Honey Judge
Modules and list of fees for the above examinations are available from the Secretary
of the Examinations
Board.
6. Representation at a National and International level
The BBKA takes an active role in discussion with government at ministerial level with Defra and the Veterinary Medicines Directorate and with the National Bee Unit as well as with various departments in the EU through CONBA-UK (Council Of National Beekeeping Associations in the United Kingdom). BBKA also liaises with research establishments and agro-chemical companies to get and give information to the benefit of all beekeepers.
7. Spring Lecture Convention and Exhibition 19th April 2008

and exclusive access to the members’ only
days on the Friday and Sunday.

8. Audio Visual Aids and Slide Libraries
The Audio Visual aids and Slide (lending) Libraries are an important part of the BBKA's service to members. A wide selection of video cassettes, projection slides and sound cassettes on beekeeping and allied subjects is available. A microscope slide service is also available. The demands made are greater each year as more Associations, local Branches and individuals avail themselves of this facility when arranging their programme of educational activities. Early booking is advised especially for the winter months. For all bookings please send request to headquarters at least three weeks before they are required. A Catalogue and order form can be downloaded from the members’ area or 75p inc PP from headquarters.
9. BBKA Honey Show at The Royal Show, Stoneleigh Thursday 3rd July to Sunday 6th July 2008
This is staged in and around the BBKA Headquarters and includes the tranquil setting of the Bee Garden right in the centre of the Showground. This is the only Honey Show staged by the British Beekeepers Association. Schedules for the Honey Show are available to download or from BBKA Headquarters and at the Spring Convention, the closing date for entries is the 28th May 2008. In addition to the Show there are stands offering bee products for sale, skep making demonstrations, observation hives, bee handling demonstrations, information on starting beekeeping and much more. Why not come along and see for yourselves, you will be made very welcome. We also have stands in the Smallholders' and Flower Show areas.
