Your membership of the L&DBKA will:

Firstly support your local association with membership bringing a number of benefits:

  • Regular apiary meetings throughout the season; giving you the opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge and skills
  • Most importantly the support and friendship of fellow beekeepers
  • An opportunity to sell your honey at the Ludlow Food Festival
  • 10 monthly newsletters including original articles from association members as well as other association
The Bee Diseases Control Orders of 2006 are the Statutory Instruments which imposes the obligation to call in the Bee Diseases Inspector if we think we may have a Foul Brood Disease. It is the loss arising from the destruction of equipment following these diseases that is compensated by BDI.

Secondly give you to membership of the British Beekeepers' Association (BBKA), as the association is affiliated to the BBKA. See BBKA for more details

Thirdly, provide you with Bee Disease Insurance which provides insurance against loss of equipment through bee diseases. For more information see BDI Cover and BDI Technical Information. Bee Disease Insurance is provided by BDI Ltd which is owned by and run for beekeepers.
