Honey Show
Totnes and Kingsbridge Beekeepersʼ Honey Show Sunday 23 October Show at Totnes Fire Station, TQ9 5DF (next to Morrisons Supermarket). Car parking available. (Please drive around to the rear of the building.)
The Honey Show schedule can be downloaded. See link on home page.
Class 17: This is a class which we hope will appeal to all those Beekeepers, both young and old, for whom part of the fun of beekeeping is creating and using new ideas or adapting and improving old ones.
Your idea can be anything to do with beekeeping. So it could be a method of handling bees for a particular reason or it could be a piece of equipment. It doesn't have to be entirely original, but it needs to be complete, either as a working drawing or a completed project. It doesn't need to be a fresh idea of yours - in fact, it would be better if you have already used it. You can use photographs if you want to.
You will need to specify, on a separate single page of A4 paper (typed or handwritten) the following:
The Problem you sought to overcome
Your Solution: what you have done to resolve the problem
The Original Idea: Is it yours? If not, where did you get it from?
Materials used
The Results you or others have achieved using your Invention
The Judges will be influenced by the clarity of your presentation
Still on the matter of the Honey Show, members are reminded that honey exhibited should be in 1lb jars without labels unless otherwise stated.
Classes 1 and 2 are for runny honey, the others are as described. The full BBKA rules can be downloaded from the internet.
