Chichester Division
The Division's new website can be found at www.chichesterbeekeepers.co.uk
Chichester Division is one of the original Divisions of the old Sussex Beekeepers' Association and has a history going back to the early 1940s. There is, though, nothing old-fashioned about the Division now, and almost 50% of its members have been keeping bees for only 3 years or so. These new members are enthusiastic beekeepers, enjoying advice and guidance from those with many years’ experience.
The 8-week training course is highly regarded and classroom based, using the most modern teaching aids. The newly created training apiary (a site where beehives are located) has 5 hives and a number of experienced demonstrator beekeepers, where on-going tuition is provided.
Monthly meetings are held, each with a visiting speaker. Informal and friendly, these meetings are usually held at the Bader Arms public house in Tangmere, in a private room. Refreshment is therefore easily available from the bar, just to add to the enjoyment of the evening. The programme of meetings for 2011 is available from our website - as are details of beekeeping, training and other fascinating subjects. To find us, just click on the link above.
