Individual Membership of the BBKA is designed to accommodate those who are interested in furthering the objectives of the BBKA and accessing the benefits of such membership. We do always recommend membership through an association < which you can find here > over Individual Membership, as it is generally cheaper than joining direct and you can benefit from more localised support and advice.

All members receive a monthly copy of BBKA News, have access to leaflets and guidelines and information from the National Bee Unit; in addition, access of the Members area on the BBKA website and a host of other exclusive BBKA Member benefits.

Individual membership is open to anyone, subject to confirmation by the executive committee. UK beekeeping members are covered by the BBKA third party £10m public liability and £10m product liability insurance – full details are on the BBKA website. As soon as you pay your sub you are entitled to this cover.

Provided you live in England or Wales, you can elect for Bee Disease Insurance coverage for your first 3 colonies or choose the option to increase the premium.  Just select the number of colonies from the options list before adding to your basket. Please ensure all your hives are covered as under-declaration may invalidate the insurance.  We regret that as Scotland and Northern Ireland have differing levels of inspection which are not under the responsibility of DEFRA we cannot offer Bee Disease Insurance.

Please note that your membership will be acknowledged by email and will confirm your membership number (this will remain unchanged if you are renewing). We no longer issue membership cards.
