The BBKA undertakes 2 surveys annually - the Winter Survival Survey and the Honey Survey. On occasion we undertake further surveys of our members,
The National Honey Survey opens in September each year and provides us with a key indicator as to how well honey bees have fared that year. The survey has been operating for 4 years. The latest press release for the honey survey is located here.
BBKA Winter Survival Survey has been operating for over 7 years and is sent to a random selection of 2000 members. It aims to identify the number of surviving colonies and participants are asked to complete their results from April. The results are usually published in May/June.
Further Surveys have been undertaken by the BBKA the latest of which is BBKA in the Coming Years conducted between October and December 2015. The results of that surveycan be found by following the link below, along with the results of an independent survey carried out in 2012 of those whose membership had lapsed between 2007 and 2012.
