BBKA member Katie Hayward of Felin Honeybees on Anglesey Island has been given full funding by a variety of sources to get an automatic trailer that will allow her to extract her supers at each of her apiaries.

The mobile extraction line will be able to process 21 boxes of super frames in 12 minutes. The wet frames can be returned straight to the bees.

The van is run by solar energy and has a water harvester that enables the equipment to be steam cleaned as it is being moved to the next site thus preventing any transfer of disease between apiaries. All the equipment is built to food grade hygienic standards.

It is being custom built by a firm in Finland called Paradise Honey.
