Cheshire Beekeepers win Gold at RHS Tatton

Cheshire Beekeepers Association has won its second successive Gold medal at the RHS show at Tatton Park. This award makes it a total of 3 Gold Medals over the last four years!

The judges loved the display of plants that are best for supplying nectar and pollen to honeybees and other pollinators. Graham Royle, Chair of the Cheshire Beekeeping Association, said: Thje show was very busy despite the changeable weather! Our stand, as always attracted lots of attention with the public asking questions about pollinators, rolling candles and buying honey.” The stand is organised, set up and manned by Cheshire BKA on behalf of the British Beekeepers Association and includes an observation hive which had to be changed each day with different beekeepers donating frames of bees for the public to get up close with honeybees. All the plants in the winning display are grown and donated by a single member, Stuart Hatton. This year the beekepers were located just inside the entrance to the National Plant Societies Marquee and the bee display was the first thing the public saw as they entered the marquee. -ends-
