When you Adopt a Beehive in the North East you will receive seasonal updates from beekeepers Val in Yorkshire and John in Newcastle with your copy of Hive Talk.
Val is a highly experienced beekeeper and also a keen microscopist, happy to share the secret world her microscope reveals about pollen and nectar, and also the diseases honey bees can suffer from too. Running beekeeping courses and with ten hives of her own to care for, there’s always something to look out for with Val.
John has been keeping bees now for sixty years, and has always enjoyed teaching people about bees. As a science teacher and later a university lecturer, and now helping at his local association John has helped many others including a bishop, to take joy in the art of beekeeping. We hope you will enjoy his world when you adopt a beehive from the north east. ‘The other apiary is based just outside my village and it is this one that I will make my ‘adopt’ apiary and keep you posted on how the bees here get on.
You will receive a gift pack which includes ‘Pocket Guide to the Honey Bee’ – packed full of interesting information and honey bee facts, a jar of honey, a packet of wildflower seeds, postcards, Burts Bees lip balm and discount voucher. We will then send you a copy of Hive Talk our seasonal newsletter and an update from your Adopt a Beehive beekeeper throughout the year.
We’ll despatch your welcome gift box as soon as possible so that you can sit back and enjoy your Armchair Beekeeping with Adopt a Beehive.
