I am a Biology/ Microbiology graduate and am experienced in scientific research with a master’s degree in business administration.  I worked as a research scientist for many years and have several publications in Microbiology and am first author on a UK patent detailing a process of enhanced oil recovery using polymer producing bacteria.  I also have a teaching qualification and experience of teaching Biology and Microbiology to adults of 16 to 70 years, including many women returners wishing to restart their careers in science related subjects.

I have kept bees for over 20 years, at home and in an out apiary on a Kent fruit farm, and currently run around 20 colonies.  I started beekeeping when a swarm arrived in my garden.  It was put into a hive by a local beekeeper who gave me the equipment but failed to return to tell me what to do next.  I joined the local branch to find out how to look after them properly and was fortunate to be mentored by a bee farmer with 120 hives.  I have been hooked ever since. I became a Master Beekeeper in 2017 and am active in education and training at local, regional, and national level.
